The Ice Bowl

I am a hockey fan (Buffalo Sabres, of course)…I have also played hockey all my life (still haven’t yet in Beijing though!). Playing on the frozen puddle in front of my house growing up was always the coolest part of the winter. The ice wasn’t good, wasn’t big, but it was fun.

The rink I used to play in growing up (Caz), was roof-less back in the 70s. Couldn’t imagine playing all home games, outside in Buffalo. Just a bit cold.

A few years ago, the NHL had it’s first outdoor “pond hockey” game. Edmonton (where game was played) vs. Montreal.

Now…it’s Buffalo’s turn. The place everyone associates with winter and snow. The lake effect queen city. The pond? Rich Stadium. Home of the Bills…the team who holds the record for the most losses in a row in the Super Bill (4).

    Mike,

I tried to get tickets online this morning when they went on sale and I was denied. Every ticket was gone in about six minutes or less so I was left in the cold or actually left out of the cold since I’ll be watching on TV.

I’m sort of fond to the Oilers… my brother lived in Edmonton for about 10 years, and I went to visit him for a couple of months back in the time.

I think it is quite nice to see hockey go “back to the roots”. Too bad we -almost- never get to see any hockey on TV on this part of the world, thus I don’t think I’ll be able to watch that.

I still have a good memory watching the Canes play at that Raleigh bar last year. We should do it again!

Dave … that sucks! I was thinking about extended my Christmas trip to Buffalo to stay through New Year’s. Doubt I will do that. If you want tickets, call Kev, he may be able to help.

Esteban … the Oilers suck! :) . That was a good time in Raleigh…I seem to remember something about a crazy girl too…

Go Canes …. ‘Canes Get Hot in Third, Sock Sabres
Beginning a stretch of three games in four nights, the Hurricanes exploded for four third period goals to knock off old foe Buffalo, 6-2, Wednesday night at the RBC Center. Eric Staal and Bret Hedican each tallied a goal and two assists.

Mike I bet you miss it!!
